| Who we are |
Congo Renaissance (CoRe) is an independent, nonprofit civil society organization created in Johannesburg in 2006 by Congolese intellectuals. The aim of CoRe is to significantly contribute to the social, political and economic recovery (renaissance) of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) mainly and to the development of Africa to a larger extent. |
| Our history |
Founding members of CoRe were initially motivated by the bitter observation of how the situation in the DRC has been degrading on many aspects: social, economic and political. A group of fresh graduate from the University of Witwatersrand decided to establish an organization after they came to realize that the knowledge acquired at prominent South African Universities could contribute to a positive change to the crisis in the DRC. CoRe then came to life. Congo Renaissance now has members from all spheres of live.
As part of the broader civil society, Congo Renaissance is not aligned with any political ideology in the DRC or in Africa. However, our members share different political ideologies and as an organization we do respect such freedom and diversity. |
