GENDER UNIT
  • Scope of work

The DRC and many other places have proven that women and children bear the brunt of poverty, misery and war. Across Africa many cases show that women are face with many issues such as land ownership, poor access to economic or educational opportunities as their male peers, sex trafficking, human rights abuse, domestic violence, rape, etc.
Though enshrined in the constitution of the republic, women’s participation in decision making process in the DRC has still a long way to go. In the national assembly of the DRC women represent only n%.

CoRe subscribe to the Millennium Development Goal 3 (MDG3). CoRe is also of the view that investments in women can bring up more positive long lasting changes to both families and communities in the DR Congo.

The Gender Unit of CoRe seeks to improve the quality of the life and the status of women in the DR Congo. In our work, Congo Renaissance addresses the issue of gender holistically way and recognizes the critical role men have to play in achieving gender equality.

The Gender Unit is on the frontline to:

  • advocate and protect women’s right in the DR Congo, Africa, and the global South;
