POLICY ADVOCACY UNIT | |||
This unit intends to actively and consistently engage in lobbying and campaigning on the core social and economic issues that affect the development of the DRC. Indeed, the DR Congo is facing a serious crisis with severe long-term consequences affecting the entire not only the country but the central African region. Though the war and political instability in the eastern Congo has worsen over the last decade, the root causes to this situation are mainly found in decades of mismanagement, poor governance of public services that have resulted in extreme poverty in a country always said to be a geological scandal. It is in this context that CoRe strives to actively engage policymakers for policy change in the DR Congo. CoRe achieves this by mobilizing the public and influencing world and regional powers (South Africa mainly) and institutions (SADC, African Union, the United Nations, International Financial Institutions) to improve the economic and social conditions in the DR Congo. These issues vary from peace, to economic stability and good governance. Activities and projects we organize in this unit intend to promote and the renaissance of the DR Congo on the socio economic front towards building a strong power house that will help trigger a new wave of development in the African continent.

The Policy Forum is a hub for creating effective mechanisms for dialogue and communication in order to generate and debate of policy on various issues. The Policy Forum thus serves as the breeding-ground to direct the course of action at CoRe.
This area of work is intended to strengthen our ability to exercise the influence of our organization within the policy realm;
